The A.M.s Reimagine Radiohead’s “No Surprises”

Seattle, WA – Indie folk duo The A.M.s have released their latest single, “No Surprises,” a cover off of Radiohead’s 1997 release, OK Computer. “No Surprises” is the first single the pair has released following the debut of their album, Ignite The Sky, released last year. The album, a 13-track project, touches on themes of family, longing, and belonging. “No Surprises” is now available to stream and download on all digital platforms worldwide.

Led by haunting piano and emphatic guitar, this arrangement of “No Surprises” gives its flowers to the original track whilst adding a veiled, pensive layer of yearning that is characteristic of The A.M.s’ music. Staying loyal to their introspective quality found in their previous releases, their version of this track is quintessentially woeful while maintaining its emotionally transcendent performance. “Despite being reasonably happy, silly people, we both like dark, sad music,” the pair comments. “Maybe the more we explore the depths of our dark feelings, the more we appreciate the light. Or maybe we like feeling the ache of wistful sadness through music, or maybe it’s just a sublime song – but it’s probably all of the above.” Recounting the process which saw both of them drawn to this track, they observe that “regardless, when ‘No Surprises’ came out we were both really taken by its melancholic beauty.”

Their interpretation of “No Surprises” reminds us of the potential of making art together enriched by individual perspectives and experiences. That same spirit is at the core of The A.M.s’ musical project: long-distance friends who make music a thousand miles away from one another. Mariko Langan and Adrian Libertini are a testament to creative collaborations that know no distance.

“No Surprises” is The A.M.s’ first release since Ignite The Sky which received praise from champions such as The Big TakeoverAmerican Songwriter, and The Alternate Root. Following the release of their debut album and a slew of live dates on the West Coast, the pair attended the Durango Songwriter Expo last month. “No Surprises” is now available for download or streaming. Dallas Rockers Discuss the Challenges of Escaping Addictive Toxic Relationships

Dallas, TX – Alternative rockers The Dirty Shirts have returned with the release of their explosive new single “HEART ATTACK.” The glam-rock infused track perfectly combines an electrifying pop sound with hook-heavy melodies and an infectious chorus. “My lyrical themes often express the duality of feeling two different things from one emotional situation and how to deal with it,” confesses lead singer, Nick Santa Maria. With “HEART ATTACK,” it’s the feeling of not wanting to let go of a relationship, while also wanting to run away as fast as possible. “HEART ATTACK” is now available to stream and download on all platforms worldwide.

“HEART ATTACK” immediately grabs the attention of listeners with manic and falsetto vocals set against a chiming backdrop of celestial bells before The Dirty Shirts come clean with their propulsive brand of “dance floor rock and roll.” The song is about a toxic relationship that the narrator knows is failing, but can’t stop. Santa Maria, dug deep into the meaning of “HEART ATTACK” and what he wants listeners to get out of the song. “We put a lot of intention in creating a sound in the studio that supported and enhanced the story being told in the song, that helps people grab onto it more,” explains Santa Maria. “Ultimately, we just want people to turn this up as loud as they can stand it and dance.” The track was produced by Jeff Saenz (Leon Bridges, Reverend Horton Heat, Nikki Lane), engineered by Joel Raif, and recorded at Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Dallas, Texas.

Making their debut in 2021, The Dirty Shirts is a pop, alternative, and glam rock band from Dallas, Texas. In the last two years, they have released numerous singles and stylized videos, and have toured across North America. During this time, he re-envisioned his music career and decided to create a band that encompassed his love of rock music. This was when The Dirty Shirts were born. Incorporating their musical influences, including the Rolling Stones, Oasis, and The Strokes, they released their debut album, The Get Up From The Get Go, and toured across the country in 2022. Performing in support of their hit singles, including “Detonator” and “Please Me,” the band hit the ground running, creating more music as they became more known across the U.S. As The Dirty Shirts release new songs, Santa Maria notes how they wish for their listeners to continue to turn to their music for comfort, especially during challenging moments in life. Olivia Reid Finds Her Stride With Latest Single “Runner’s High”

Indie-Pop Artist Muses About Moving Forward With Her Beat-Driven Track

New York, NY – Indie-pop artist Olivia Reid has swept in with the release of her latest single, “Runner’s High.” The electric track offers a glimpse into Reid’s forthcoming EP as she paves her way as an independent artist. Reid acknowledges the fast pace of life, imploring listeners to keep moving forward and to stay positive in the face of obstacles. “Runner’s High” is now available to stream and download on all platforms.

Coming in with a smooth, light opening before transitioning into a quicker-paced, pumping beat, “Runner’s High” grabs the attention of listeners with potent lyrics, and carries them through a musical journey perfect for a windows down drive or an outdoor festival. It touches on Reid’s perseverance, that even though challenges arise, there is a blissful nirvana in overcoming the odds. “Runner’s High” is a self-reflection, with Reid musing about her constant chase of progress, using the high that comes with accomplishing goals as a motivator. “’Runner’s High’ describes the way I’ve conditioned myself to be a workhorse,” explains Reid. “A product of growing up in America, I guess.” Yet Olivia Reid is a shining example of what hard work and constantly chasing after your dreams can bring forth.

The indie-pop artist explained that an early iteration of the track was sent to her via Instagram by co-producers Ry Jones and Bastian Testori. Jones shared the idea, highlighting the track’s luscious saxophone outro marked a perfect callback to Reid’s 2018 single “Organic Bloom.”  “When I heard the early version, I was so inspired. I immediately asked if they wanted to collaborate on it. The concept for ‘Runner’s High’ came so quickly. This song feels like that moment when I’m sprinting, and my legs finally seem to move faster than my thoughts. My mind is free. At that point, the high, the bliss – feels earned – and it’s most definitely addicting,” says Reid. “I’m so grateful that Ry sent that Instagram message. It was such an organic creative process.”

Based in NYC, Olivia Reid’s production style blends indie acoustics with exploratory electronic pop soundscapes, landing listeners in a visceral sonic world. Drawing inspiration from artists like Bon Iver, Norah Jones, Sylvan Esso, and Florence + The Machine, these artists have worked in tandem to mold her lyrical metaphors, musicality, stage presence, and, most notably, her love of sound design. Reid’s interests are diversified, exploring areas such as screenwriting, neuroscience, digesting current events, advocating for nature – she’s currently involved with Brian Eno’s charity EarthPercent – and listening to podcasts  – she formerly hosted Spotify For Artists and Notable’s Song Start podcast where she interviewed artists like Sam Smith, Victoria Monet, Hayley Williams of Paramore. With such profound sources of inspiration, Reid looks forward to releasing new tracks that touch listeners. As a self-proclaimed “chronic collaborator,” Reid has connected with audiences around the world via collaborations such as “Time is Mine” with Kidswaste, “What You Came Here For” with Jae Luna, and “Above the Clouds” with SŸDE. Her music has been featured in Flaunt Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, The New Yorker, and American Songwriter and has been added to several official Spotify playlists like Happy Pop, Metropolis, Chill Tracks, Sunday Session, Dance Hits, and Golden Hour, garnering her over 40 million streams.

“Runner’s High” is the first of many tracks to come from Olivia Reid in 2023. Between her unique incorporation of synths, emotionally conscious lyrics, and electronic beats backing her glossy vocals, Olivia Reid is someone to watch out for. Stream “Runner’s High” on all digital platforms, and keep up to date with her by visiting OliviaReid.com or @oliviareidmusic.

Raegan Sealy Releases Cinematic Ballad “Killing Song”

Brooklyn, NY – Indie-soul artist Raegan Sealy has released her latest single, “Killing Song,” a ballad about coming to terms with the cracks in a relationship. Following the release of her debut single “Make ‘em Jealous,” “Killing Song” is available to stream and download on all digital and streaming platforms worldwide.

Taking inspiration from soul and classical harmonies, “Killing Song” is dominated by the violin and piano, whose melodies blend together in a delicate, poignant display of openness. In the song, Sealy lets listeners into her Harlem house, an intimate space of vulnerability inhabited by her and the mice that become a metaphor for a crumbling relationship in the song. The striking exposure of this private emotional and physical sphere is concealed effortlessly by the song’s wit, full of wordplay. Coming to terms with the ultimate and inevitable downfall of a relationship, Sealy’s soul-pop vocals are equally soft-spoken and assertive, filling the oceans between the confidence and irony of her storytelling and the emotion-filled delivery of her performance.

The Brooklyn-based performer says “Killing Song” “is about all those little nagging problems in relationships that you know are there but don’t want to address – because you know that killing the problems will also kill the relationship.” Opening a can of worms, Raegan Sealy uncovers these tiny problems, pulling a string and witnessing the entire ensemble unfold before her eyes as she dwells on the infestation of the “most adorable, tiny, destructive little metaphors.” Scouring every nook and cranny of the apartment, she finds herself alone at last – reveling in the finality of the situation. The track’s cinematic, orchestra-like arrangement sets the tone for this monumental, painstakingly stunning display of solitude. “Killing Song” was produced by Robin Buyer, who also produced her lead single “Make ‘em Jealous.”

Raegan Sealy is committed to storytelling through her wit and layered metaphors. Outside of music, Sealy is an advocate and teaching artist. She received a Fulbright Scholarship in 2015, one of the most prestigious academic scholarships in the world, along with her MFA from The New School. Continuing to sing and perform poetry, she has opened for Shane Koyczan, Kae Tempest, and Ice T. She even gave the first official TED Talk entirely in rhyming verse in 2019. Now based in Brooklyn, Sealy takes inspiration from a diverse range of artists from the Arctic Monkeys and Lana Del Rey to Yebba, Self Esteem, and Marina – beautifully fusing her musical and writing talents to share her life experiences as a soul-pop singer-songwriter.

The writing is on the wall in “Killing Song” – reflecting on turning points and the inevitability of turbulent situations bursting at the seams. Brimming with double entendres and poignant images of the artist’s independence and endurance to purify every corner, “Killing Song” is a strikingly grand performance of awareness and resilience. Led by guitar and soulful vocals, the song is warm and grounded, without foregoing its dreamy, cinematic qualities. Blooming out of a time of change and embracing the thrills of new, fresh experiences, “Right On Time” is one half of Juliana Riccardi’s The Nashville Session recordings, a project born out of what Riccardi defined a ‘perfect mixture of risk and preparation.’ Co-produced and mixed by Nick Bullock, a producer-engineer from Neal Capellino’s The Doghouse Studio (Dolly Parton, Allison Kraus, Sheryl Crow), The Nashville Session singles were recorded live across an eye-opening, three-day trip bustling with creativity which gave Riccardi a groundbreaking studio vocal performance. “It was a big risk going there with all the ‘firsts’ happening at once, but they aligned,” she reflects. “Nashville was new to me, but I had a feeling of home there during those three days.” The single features Lauren Stockner on bass and Grammy award winner Will Hensley on guitar and piano. Hensley, who is known for his engineering and mixing work with artists like John Mayer, Mat Kearny, Coldplay, and Gavin Degraw, also arranged and co-produced the track alongside Riccardi, Stockner, and Bullock.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Vocal Performance from the City College of New York in Harlem, and has over a decade of lead performance experience– all of which lay the groundwork for her evocative songwriting and stage presence. After some deep losses and soul searching, Riccardi shared her voice in a new way by building a remarkable live band, releasing her noteworthy studio recordings, and continuing her love for spontaneity on some of LA’s best original music stages. Her music has been featured on countless playlists, including the Spotify official playlist “Healin Blues.”

Eric Sleeper Releases Ambient New Single “Dragons”

Singer-Songwriter Dwells On False Reality Created by Social Media And Pop Culture

New York, NY – Singer-songwriter Eric Sleeper has released his latest single, “Dragons.” Bringing trippy loops, soulful harmonies, and poignant lyrics, the new track features an evocative guitar chipping away at a false reality. “Dragons” is available now on all streaming platforms.

Exemplifying the misconceptions that social media and entertainment portray about the ideal life with no flaws, “Dragons” is Eric Sleeper’s approach to seeing the bigger picture and doing the best you can with what you are given, rather than being discontent chasing for more. Honoring lyrics that his audience relates to, Sleeper encourages fans to use his song as a guide to appreciate themselves and their journey through life. “This song is about figuring out your priorities in life, acknowledging that what we see in movies, TV, or social media may not be what it seems,” explains Sleeper. “It can leave you discontent and always hungry for more, rather than enjoying the journey itself.” He expresses this in his lyric, “I see a storm coming down, you just see rain. I can’t afford another drought, so I don’t complain.” The line represents people becoming detrimentally dependent on others’ validation and materialistic things, whether completely knowingly or blindly. Sleeper continues to express how one may chase imaginary fantasies that in practice are not the best for themselves in his line, “Life is tragic, chasing dragons.” He leaves the audience hopeful for brighter days by constantly stating reasons why they should appreciate what little they are given.

Eric Sleeper, born in New York and based in New Jersey, embarked on his musical journey at 14. He found his passion for music, starting with a guitar, and quickly learned songwriting. After learning the MIDI keyboard shortly, he gained a broader understanding of music, which then allowed him to experiment more instrumentally and vocally. Sleeper has proven to be a talented musician, inspired by musicians who praise a minimalist approach to songwriting, like Bob Dylan, Elliot Smith, and Nirvana. “Dragons” is the follow-up single to “Son of a Gun” released in late 2022, where he received the attention of Prelude Press, Divine Magazine, XS Noize, and more. Sleeper is working on an album to bring to the stage, and fans have much to look forward to.

“Dragons” is now available for streaming or download. To follow along with Eric Sleeper’s musical journey, you can follow him on Instagram @EricSleeperMusic.

Phil Firetog Trio & Co. Release Powerful Commemorative Single “How A Heart Breaks”

Long Island, NY – Alternative acoustic rock band Phil Firetog Trio & Co. have released their new single “How A Heart Breaks,” an emotional, uptempo pop-rock track about dealing with grief and the memories left behind following the loss of a loved one. “How A Heart Breaks” is now available to stream and download on all digital platforms.

The track is equal parts powerful and reflective, blending energetic musical qualities with its sorrowful subject matter in a manifestation of heartbreaking, frustrated sadness. As the band’s frontman, Phil Firetog, sings emotionally charged lyrics like, “Why right here? And why right now? My heart breaks down on the street,” the sense of anguish and disorientation emerges as the first stage of loss. Heartache and despair fill the track’s vocals, creating a moving concoction of affection and melancholy. Yet, despite its mournful nature, “How A Heart Breaks” retains the intensity, spirit, and vitality of rock progressions and instrumental breaks in its commitment to keep someone’s memory alive long after they are gone.

Firetog comments on the deeply personal moment of envisioning and writing the track, sharing that it was written after coming to know that a friend and bandmate’s father had passed away. “This man was not only a father figure to my bandmate, but to all of us in the band. The morning I heard the news, I was in shock and could only think of picking up my guitar and playing,” he says. “The day was filled with memories of him and the overwhelming feeling of him still being present. It wasn’t until a walk later that evening that the true heartbreak set in.”

Shortly after debuting his solo EP, Portrait Songs, Phil Firetog expanded to a trio that is now Phil Firetog Trio. Formed in 2015, the band consists of Phil Firetog (lead vocalist/guitarist), Johnny “Pots” Potocnik (drummer), and Liam Gordon (bassist). The expansion of the trio to Phil Firetog Trio & Co. is Tye Granger (saxophone) and Gabriel Nekrutman (flute/clarinet/alto sax), and a rotating cast of characters that Firetog has added to the mix. Entertaining the industry’s toughest critics, Phil Firetog Trio debuted their first EP, Circles, in 2017. Recently, the band released their fan-favorite single, “Fall,” the first track to include the “Company” performing alongside the trio, and followed with their holiday single “Long Island Christmas Eve.” Taking inspiration from iconic musicians such as Dave Matthews Band, John Butler, and John Mayer, the band continues to display its dynamic and transformative sonic work. The band’s works have recently been praised by NYS Music, The Long Island Sound, and V13.

“How A Heart Breaks” is a deeply emotionally charged manifestation of affection and grief, which does not forego the energy through which these difficult feelings are expressed. Speaking to the magnitude of connections and memorializing loved ones, Phil Firetog Trio & Co. commemorate this loss through a dynamic, passionate track. The group is set to perform five upcoming shows in Westhampton Beach, NY, and New York City, across February and March. You can follow Phil Firetog Trio & Co. on Instagram @PhilFiretogTrio and Spotify to keep up with their musical journey.
