Josh Sallee Drops Nostalgic Single & Video, “95’ Jordan”

Rapper Reflects On The Rise Of His Journey Through Hometown Love

Oklahoma City, OK – Rapper and producer Josh Sallee has released his sentimental new single and music video, “95’ Jordan,” available to view on YouTube and stream on digital platforms worldwide. The new single transparently reflects on the ebb and flow of Sallee’s musical journey, zooming in on the emotional toll that these moments had on him.

Fueled by vulnerability, “95’ Jordan” weaves Josh Sallee’s musical development with the influence that Chicago Bulls’ great Michael Jordan had on him in his early life. Like Jordan, who stepped away from basketball to play minor league baseball as a way to grieve the death of his father, Sallee considered stepping back from his dreams despite the buzz he had begun building for himself. “It is written in reference to the year Michael Jordan retired from basketball to play baseball after his father passed away,” explains Sallee. “I had a similar experience in my career when I started going full-time into producing music. I was considering walking away from the mic and my solo career.” The track reflects the compelling tale of digging deep within and finding his motivation to pursue his love for music.

“95’ Jordan” has a dreamy melody and a sleek lyrical track that fuels the nostalgia themes within the song. Produced by Blev, this single highlights Sallee’s natural talent for rapping and storytelling with its melodic beat and silky sound. Sallee reminisces on his childhood, “the song reflects on my life early on and some of the quirky things that my hometown inspired. It’s a reflection on the journey I have had thus far and then finding that same passion for music all over again.” “95’ Jordan” dives deep into the brilliant mind of a young Sallee on his adventure to find his voice and musical confidence. The single relates to the aspiring musicians that have gone through the ups and downs of their paths to making it in the music industry.

In support of the single, Josh Sallee teamed up with director Avitiuh and cinematographer Daniel Vo to deliver an effortlessly aesthetic music video on par with the 90’s theme. Beautifully color-graded and shot with expertise, the “95’ Jordan” video takes viewers through his hometown of Oklahoma City and the impact it has left on him. Filming shots in locations he was raised in, the video is full of symbolism and representation of Sallee’s hometown and the deep memories it holds for him. With fresh outfit changes, including a reference to Jordan with a vintage jersey, candid shots of his friends, and places close to his heart, the video perfectly depicts Sallee’s journey and story with its effortless transitions and shot perspectives.

As an Oklahoma native, Josh Sallee excelled at performing naturally, thanks to his parents, who were pastors and public speakers. Sallee quickly developed an eclectic taste for music influenced by Lauryn Hill, Frank Ocean, and Outkast and discovered his freestyling talents in competitions with teammates and friends. Starting with a viral video of him rapping in Kevin Durant’s studio, the Oklahoma singer, rapper, and producer built a reputation as a staple in the state’s growing hip hop scene, creating with artists like Smoke DZA, K.A.A.N., Pell, and Bobby Raps, touring with Asher Roth, Modsun, Vic Mensa, G-Eazy, and Tory Lanez, and directing the video for K.A.A.N.’s  “Phoenix,” which collected over 6.5 million views. Most recently, Sallee was selected to be a part of Timbaland’s new digital-production venture, Beatclub. His music has gathered over 8 million streams on Spotify, has appeared on MTV’s Road Rules Challenge, and has been repeatedly spotlighted in sports circles, with the NHL Stanley Cups, Minnesota Vikings, and American Ninja Warrior all selecting his songs for their hype videos.

“95’ Jordan” is nothing short of another captivating track from Josh Sallee’s catalog. His lyrics display his hard work ethic and drive for success, a relatable motive to listeners. “95’ Jordan” is now available to stream on all digital music platforms, along with the video which is now available to watch on YouTube. Leezy Reflects on Addiction with New Single “Cocaine Kisses”

Chicago, IL – Dream pop artist Leezy has released her newest single, “Cocaine Kisses.” Combining soft, breathy vocals and hauntingly beautiful harmonies with a melancholy bassline, the track narrates a relationship romanticized by drug use. “Cocaine Kisses” is now available to download and stream on digital music platforms worldwide.

“Cocaine Kisses” follows themes of drug-induced vulnerability found in Leezy’s previously-released singles. The track, however, focuses more on the high of the moment and the somewhat flawed link between a romantic relationship and the high of a drug. “It’s about how I used to associate a certain drug-induced experience with a person or relationship,” Leezy explains. “I was able to ignore a lot of red flags because of how good it felt to be high in the moment.” Melancholy lyrics like, “I can’t feel my heart when I’m high on you” depict Leezy’s post-rehab reflection on the seduction of addiction. She credits the song’s narrative to her own experience as a former addict who glamourized drug use. “Although it may seem like a drug can ‘make you better,’ a love affair with substances is always toxic — full of ups and downs, break-ups and make-ups,” Leezy confesses.

For Leezy, creating music has always been about sharing her story. She writes music as part of a cathartic way to recover from her experience with trauma, substance abuse, and depression, and her writing is primarily a way to heal her younger self. “My music is created out of my own personal experiences,” she explains. “Therefore, I am influenced by a young girl with lots of innocence to lose.” Leezy describes herself as an old soul with a youthful spirit, and those themes of duality are present in the way that her music explores the paradoxes of life. Provoking the feeling of stillness amidst chaos, Leezy’s music is honest and vulnerable about the realities of both addiction and healing.

Leezy is an expressive singer-songwriter who showcases her authenticity through the storytelling of her personal experiences. Her new single “Cocaine Kisses” narrates a whirlwind romance while recognizing that the relationship has been romanticized by drug use. “Cocaine Kisses” can now be streamed on digital music platforms worldwide. To keep up with Leezy’s musical journey of recovery, visit LeezyMusic.com and follow her on Instagram at @LeezyMusic69.

Syd Carter West Drops New Rock-Tinged Single, “Moonshine”

Vancouver, BC – Syd Carter West has released “Moonshine,” a blues-rock track which depicts her journey as an artist and a reflection of her growth. Her latest single reintroduces the singer-songwriter in a new light as she transitions deeper into the rock and blues world. “The fear of disappointing others, feeling alienating and judged is something I still live with daily, so I wanted to write a song that reminds me of what joy, empowerment, and unapologetic openness feels like,” West confesses. The energetic, catchy single is available for download and streaming on digital platforms worldwide.

“Moonshine” is introduced with dynamic instrumentals, accompanied by powerful, yet smooth vocals. Both Syd Carter West’s instrumentals and vocals emphasize her transition into a heavier, rock-forward sound, allowing her to fully embrace the rocker she was always meant to be. The steady tone draws attention to the lyrics, which hold a deeper meaning for West. “I’m finally allowing myself to be the badass, edgy and wild rocker I’m meant to be, and to quote my song: ‘Feel the burn – but be inspired… Got no time to waste this precious life… Under that Moonshine.’” Listeners can listen through the intertwining lyrics and instrumental track to recognize the deeper meaning behind her new single: her growth. The track features instrumentals and production by John Ellis.

Beyond the blues-rock progressions and fascinating lyrics, Syd Carter West has been navigating her way through finding the potential in her imperfections rather than trying to be perfect. She’s come into herself by shifting away from the fear of disappointing others. Her musical journey began at age 12 as an opera student with vocal training and music theory studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has since learned to translate emotion through eye contact and body language, which has been present in her music. West has evolved into an extraordinary vocalist and songwriter, cementing her accolades and opening up the future to a fruitful musical career. Syd Carter West conveys the frustrating, yet enlightening musical journey she has been a part of and reflects on the growth that came along with the struggles. Having cemented her voice and talent in the Southern rock and roots scene, where she received accolades in outlets such as The Alternate Root, Americana Daily, and Canadian Beats, West is ready to jump into blues-rock, where her heart truly belongs.

Ada Marques Releases Pragmatic Single “Napkin”

Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Ada Marques has released her pragmatic single “Napkin.” The new track, written as a letter to herself, scribbled onto a napkin by the cynical side of her personality, takes a candid look at the seclusion, sadness, and self-hate we buried underneath our surface and mask from our peers. Recorded during an impromptu writing session between Marques and Grammy-nominated producer Chris Reynolds, held during an out-of-the-ordinary Los Angeles rainstorm, the song mirrors the melancholy atmosphere of the unexpected weather sonically. Intentionally unsettling, the song finds Marques asking herself, “Darling can’t you see, they wouldn’t care less if you leave,” before building into a heartbreaking one-liner in the chorus, where she admits, “…if I’m honest, I’m never truly honest, with anyone but myself.”

Like her debut single, “Bell,” “Napkin” emphasizes Marques’ intention to use her music as a resource to highlight and normalize conversations regarding self-worth, intrusive thoughts, and other important mental health topics. Marques admits that as an only child, she lived in her own head at times, creating worlds and stories that entertained her. She also understands that, as a result, she has a propensity to overthink. Her inclination to pay forward the reassurance she received from her mentors in her life and the inspiration she found in other female musicians she looked up to can be traced back to the loneliness and solitude that she sometimes felt growing up. By encouraging her listeners and peers to take a concentrated look at how relationships, both with others and with ourselves, can distort our self-image and impact the way we approach our future, Marques has allowed her music to serve as the basis of a highly interactive and supportive community, who’s rapidly grown on TikTok and Instagram followers to 12,000 and 15,500 respectively.

Her tendency to lean towards shyness also propelled a level of intimacy with songwriting that is unique and different from most people. At times, her relationship with music felt as vital to her as other people’s connection to their best friend. Music made her feel alive and loved, and she couldn’t get enough of it. Each night, while her aunt was away at work, Marques would sneak into her bedroom and spend hours sampling and studying each of the albums in her CD collection, connecting emotionally with each artist she discovered including Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Stevie Nicks. “The way they would write their stories so plainly and bluntly yet gracefully inspired me,” she admits, noting their influence on her own style of songwriting. Uncovering Taylor Swift’s debut album, Marques realized for the first time that songs don’t just happen; they’re created by musicians. Instantly, she was inspired to try and unlock her abilities as a storyteller.

From that moment on, she began writing about everything around her, from family and friends, to whatever she’d seen on her ride home, watched on TV, or recently read. As she grew up and navigated high school, boys, and the dramas surrounding both, she realized that songwriting was an outlet that kept her sane and helped release her emotions. With the encouragement from a mentor and the inspiration of other female musicals she had always looked up to, Marques began considering releasing her music to the public. It was the dream she had always been passionate about but too afraid to explore.

“Napkin” is now available to download and stream on digital platforms worldwide. You can stay updated on what Ada Marques has to come by following her TikTok and Instagram @adatheband.

Berried Alive Release New Single / Title Track “Our Own Light”

Portland, OR – Charles and Kaylie Caswell – the pun-filled pear behind Berried Alive – have partnered with The Big Takeover to reveal the details of their next album, Our Own Light. Alongside the release of the title, tracklist, and cover art of the 15-song LP, the duo shared their 5th single and title track from their forthcoming full-length “Our Own Light.” Our Own Light is set for release on September 9 and is now available to pre-order, the title track, “Our Own Light,” is streaming now on all digital platforms.

From the earliest blueprints of Our Own Light, Berried Alive approached the project with the  intention of expanding the pear-ameters of their genre. Best known for their ability to shred – a skill that caught the attention of both Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello –  the duo realized they wanted to prove they could push themselves sonically and emotionally, by expanding their sound beyond the signatures of a metal band. “We personally listen to a lot of different styles of music,” the band admits, addressing their explosion of sound. “We like different things about each style, so we’ve incorporated some elements of our favorite styles into one sound.”

Simultaneously, the band defected from their hard rock genre’s angry and insensitive songwriting style, leaning into a more transparent and candid approach to storytelling. Reinforcing that nothing is im-popsicle if you refuse to cake your eye off the prize, Berried Alive use Our Own Light to remind their listeners that you shrimply have to do whatever it takes to overcome the obstacles that may be in front of you.

The feedback to the band’s musical maturity has been egg-cellent. Their first single from the record, “Sit There Like A Lemon,” proved they weren’t forking around and were all in on their shift in sound.  CLASH highlighted the band’s ability to blur the genre limes, stating it “melds together EDM, rock, metal, and vivid pop textures.” Meanwhile, many publications have zoomed in on Berried Alive’s focus on mental health, with Wonderland confessing that the dark and triumphant single “Pearanoid,” proves that “there is no darkness which Berried Alive cannot overcome.” Both “Poisonberry” and  “Melon-Choly’” use their introspective lyrics to discuss the necessity of healthy boundaries and structure, mirroring the decisions that Charles and Kaylie made early in their relationship, when they were craving a butter life for themselves, and refused to cave to the pear pressure to follow the standard industry blueprint. Ditching studio time and traditional tour routings, the duo decided to relish their time together and build a life intended for healthy living.

Taking matters into their own hands has been the best path for Berried Alive to dill with the workload that comes with being a creator. The results have been considerable. As Charles writes, produces, mixes, and masters the outfit’s music, which has gathered nearly 50-melon streams globally, and spawned five studio albums featuring 30 pun-based singles, Kaylie contributes lyrics and the occasional basslines, while creating and designing the band’s clothing brand and streetwear line, which was recently spotlighted by Lil’ Pump, who supported the Pearasite Collection. Their unique line includes wearable art like bomber jackets, a varsity jacket style sweater, sneakers, joggers, and hoodies, which all feature the band’s adorable strawberry and crossbones logo.

Like their music, which they’ve created with the intention of helping people feel connected and less alone in the world, they hope that by creating in a way that is accessible and impactful for the everyday person, they can provide some encourage-mint to help people choose to juice be themselves.

Our Own Light” is now available to stream on all digital platforms. You can pre-order Our Own Light now. To keep up with the latest music from Berried Alive, follow them on Instagram @berriedaliveofficial and visit BerriedAliveOfficial.com.
