NYC Pop Trio Running Lights Releases “One in a Million”

Running Lights Inspires Listeners To Be Present on New Summer Single

New York, NY – Rising pop band Running Lights, consisting of Mike and Nick Squillante, and Stephen Ranellone, has released “One in a Million,” an uplifting summer track that inspires listeners to cherish those you love, whether they be new relationships or old, and live life to the fullest. Combining a catchy, uptempo dance-pop beat that is sure to make your feet tap with confident, emotional vocals, “One in a Million” sounds like the way butterflies feel when you fall in love. The single is now available on digital music platforms worldwide.

Quarantining during the last few months has left many people separated from their loved ones. If we learned anything from the pandemic, it’s that life is short and not to let an opportunity pass. “One in a Million” is a euphonious reminder to treasure those closest to us, both metaphorically and physically. “‘One in a Million’ is simply about letting go, being present, and embracing the magic that sometimes wanders across your path,” explains lead singer and guitarist Mike Squillante. “Put simply, even love needs love sometimes. If you don’t nurture the love you have, it’ll die regardless of if it’s new or old.” The catchy track details two lovers’ romantic late night on the town and is brimming with upbeat, affectionate vocals. The chorus zealously exclaims, “Take you anywhere that you want to go if you hold my hand when the lights get low. Cause it’s me and you and that makes two, but I swear we’re one in a million.” The electro-pop beat then subsides momentarily before the rapturous sounds of the drum and keyboard return as the song reaches its emotional pinnacle. “One in a Million” reminds listeners to savor the divine moments in life. “Take a leap of faith and fall in love. Don’t let an opportunity pass you by.”

Running Lights are no strangers to hard work; it’s a deep-rooted notion that has been a cornerstone of their Italian working-class upbringing paired with an unwavering passion for music. The New York-born siblings, Mike and Nick Squillante have had music take front and center, whether it was their dad playing the piano or their mom listening to 90’s country music. Joining the brothers is childhood friend Stephen Ranellone, who has been hooked on drumming since he was given his first set in the 6th grade. All three members bring with them notable accomplishments and experiences in the industry. Mike has toured as a guitarist and keyboardist for major label acts such as Melanie Martinez (Atlantic) and Gnash (Atlantic), Nick works as an engineer at NYC’s legendary Electric Lady Studios with notable artists such as Frank Ocean, Bon Jovi, and Mumford & Sons; and Stephen is a Warped Tour veteran and the touring drummer with indie artist, Pronoun (Sleep Well Records). In 2018, Running Lights signed a deal with hit-making powerhouse label, IDAP Music, home to multi-platinum producer/songwriter William Larsen (Nico and Vinz “Am I Wrong,” Kygo “Stay,” Florida Georgia Line “H.O.L.Y.”).

“One in a Million” is indicative of the lively, self-reflective themes Running Lights have been exploring in recent songs. For the listener, the song cultivates a strong sense of devotion and admiration towards one’s significant others (old or new) and spreads a message of not taking things for granted. Blake English Combines 80s Glam, Self-Love, and Horror in “Sad Girls Dance Party” Video

Glam Pop-punk Artist Shares His Story of Being a Young LGBT Child

Los Angeles, CA – Punk-pop artist, Blake English has released a music video for his single, “Sad Girls Dance Party,” the first song off his debut EP, Spiders Make Great Poets. The song, produced by Gabe Lopez (Tyler Hilton, Belinda Carlisle), is a testament and open-letter for his listeners, to the challenging upbringing of growing up as a gay child in a conservative household. The music video for “Sad Girls Dance Party” is now available on YouTube.

“Sad Girls Dance Party” tells a story of a boy growing up and dealing with his father limiting his freedom of self-expression. With the help of his imagination and the characters he creates in his head, he is taken on a journey to meet his future self, which helps him accept who he is. The video is an inside look into the manner in which English himself would use to escape from the reality of being a gay child growing up in a conservative environment from the south. As a kid, his only safe space was the basement in his childhood home, where he would set up a dance room decked out with a fog machine and Christmas lights strung about. English teamed up with director Hao Jer Chang (Two Seas Media) to recreate his experience in music video form. The video throws in a dash of Stranger Things and is “a total homage to every horror movie and creature feature I love, with the narrative story of my childhood mixed in there,” states English. When naming the single, English states, “The reason it’s called “Sad Girls Dance Party” is because years ago, when I would order at a drive-thru, my voice had not changed yet, so to someone that couldn’t see me, they assumed I was a girl. At the time, this was very traumatizing for someone who was dealing with the confusing mix of shame over my sexuality and the brainwashing oppressive standards of gender and masculinity imposed on me as a child.” While the single is upbeat and fun, it taps into a much deeper and long-standing issue that permeates within the LGBTQ+ community, allowing his story to grasp an audience that has lived, or may continue to live, in those traumatic situations. “Sad Girls Dance Party” is a message for listeners and those of the gay community always to stand firm for their voice, body, and the life they want to lead.

American punk-pop artist and triple threat, Blake English is from Athens, Georgia, currently residing in Los Angeles. English is first and foremost a performer, drawing constant inspiration of theatrics and performance style from artists such as Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Annie Lennox, and Marilyn Manson, with his sound reminiscent of bands like My Chemical Romance. During the time with English’s former band, he headlined events for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, did three national tours, performed for Radio Disney’s Christmas Show, played SXSW, and shared the stage with Amanda Palmer from The Dresden Dolls. Recently, he was nominated for “Best Song” at the 2020 Berlin Music Video Awards for “Sad Girls Dance Party.”

With intimate lyrics and a theatrical performance, the music video for “Sad Girls Dance Party” emanates the notion of self-expression, creativity, and loving yourself in a lonely world. The collection of songs on this album displays her relationship with songwriting and storytelling. “The songs on A Thousand Tiny Torches are all, in some way or another, about finding hope amid despair,” explains Silver. “They’re story-songs, in a way searching for some kind of illumination amid a struggle with loss. Though I didn’t write the songs consciously hewing to a theme, throughout the album, there’s a recurring motif of light in the dark — headlights, porch lights, lighthouses, bolts of lightning, fireflies, and stars. Though the songs emerged out of personal stories, they all touch on universal emotions and experiences.”

The first song on the album, “You Were Light,” is luminous and uplifting in its forgiveness after a rocky relationship, and accompanied by the reassuring strums of the guitar. Another album track, “Someone Else’s Dream,” describes the rigorous internal battle between who you are and who you want to be. The record’s lead singles, “Headlights” and “What Really Matters,” show her dynamic energy of choosing to be hopeful by the uplifting charm of uncertainty and empowerment. Most recently, these singles have been praised by American Songwriter, For Folk’s Sake, Americana Highways, and have been played on radio stations like NPR affiliates WFWM, WVTF, and WMNF, California Country Radio, Gimme Country, and more.

Arielle Silver enhances her storytelling accompanied by admirable players with notable credits like Lady Gaga, KT Tunstall, and Lukas Nelson: Denny Weston Jr., drums; Carl Byron, keyboards; Darby Orr, bass; Jesse Siebenberg, steel guitar; and Mike Mullins on mandolin. A Thousand Tiny Torches noteworthy contributors: recorded by Michael Gehring, mixed by GRAMMY-winning mixer Brian Yaskulka (Lisa Loeb), and mastered by GRAMMY-winning engineer Hans DeKline (U2).

She is also a yoga instructor, literary writer, and food enthusiast currently working on a vegan cookbook.

The elegant journey that Arielle Silver illustrates in A Thousand Tiny Torches is invigorating and comforting. “I believe that healing happens concurrently on the individual and cultural levels.
