Ashley Elle Drops Vulnerable New Single “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy”

Indie Pop Artist Radiates Authenticity As She Reflects on Anxiety and Depression

Los Angeles, CA – Emerging indie-pop artist Ashley Elle has released her latest single, “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy.” Mastering a level of connection that is seldom achieved through lyricism alone, “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” is a melodically beautiful quest to find some relief from the overwhelming experience of anxiety and depression while navigating through life. Near and dear to her heart, Ashley Elle wrote “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” when she “felt so much pressure and responsibility trying to deal with growing up and the challenges we face.” “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” is now available to stream on digital music platforms worldwide.

“Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” was penned when Ashley Elle was moving back from living abroad in London and feeling overwhelmed by “struggling with the complexities of life.” Unguarded, comforting, and slightly haunting, the track urgently seeks relief from the overpowering experience of navigating life as a lost young adult.  With a catchy structure and repetition paired with a composition strongly reliant on guitar and piano, “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” feels reliable, reflecting the stability that Ashley Elle yearns for. Perfecting a sound as alluring and authentic as the lyrics, Ashley Elle has an ornate ability to connect with her fans in an intimate way, asking them, “Do you know this feeling?” Expressing desperation for connection, she enables her audience to feel seen as well. With a sense of familiarity and intimacy, listeners cannot help but feel as though Ashley Elle is a close friend, inviting them to seek solace and confide in one another. The song goes beyond emotional expression and allows the listener to feel as though they are trying to navigate through these feelings alongside Ashley. “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” was co-written and produced by Cazz Brindis and is the follow-up to her single “How Do You Stop Loving Someone?”

Ashley Elle was captivated by Taylor Swift’s music and creative artistry from a young age. It was this inspiration that led her to unearth her natural talent and love for music. Her musical journey started with the piano. Soon after, she taught herself to play the guitar. Through songwriting and vocal expression, Ashley Elle found a sense of comfort and emotional release. While initially modest about her undeniable talent, once her dad encouraged her to record in a studio, everything clicked into place. Through working with various producers and unleashing passionate dedication, Ashley Elle developed her addictively captivating sound. Her foremost objective is to connect with her audience, which is evident in the deeply resonant lyrics of her music. Although achieving such a connection often requires her to exhibit a level of vulnerability that can be intimidating, it also sets her apart, placing her in a league of her own. In 2019, her perseverance yielded results when she was signed to a publishing deal.

Ashley Elle breaks emotional boundaries in “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy,” proving she stands in a class of her own. Radiating an aura of familiarity, she provides listeners with an invitation to work through deep emotional turmoil and not feel so alone. “Heavy, Heavy, Heavy” is now available to stream and download on all digital platforms. Little Fuss Debut New Single Ahead of Boston Calling Music Festival

Boston, MA – Little Fuss, a collection of shy creatives hoping to take their introverted perspectives and write songs that make them loud enough to hear, have released “What’s It Matter To You,” the second single from their upcoming Lovely Distraction EP, set to be released later in 2023. One of the first songs Little Fuss wrote together, back when Olive Martinez and Cody Von Lehmden first met in Spain, highlights the narrator’s nonchalant demeanor regarding the imminent demise of the relationship.

“I had never been in a relationship or anything at that point,” Martinez admits, “but I just thought there was something funny about this girl singing about how she was sort of disinterested in her love life.”

The 60’s-sounding track, which you can stream or download now, launches just hours before the band’s appearance at Boston Calling Music Festival. Earlier this week, Little Fuss spoke with CBS Boston about playing the hometown event. They’ll appear on the Tivoli Audio Orange Stage from 6:55 to 7:35 pm tonight.

The Boston-based foursome announced the news of their forthcoming EP, Lovely Distraction, alongside the release of “Hypothetical Girl.” A sarcastic call to arms that demands the redemption of women who, all too often, have been objectified by their male observers, “Hypothetical Girl” is a fiery display of resistance to simplistic tropes of femininity that aims to reclaim agency over dull, reductive portrayals of women.

Both tracks highlight the signature storytelling style of Little Fuss, who use vintage-tinged soundscapes to take their listeners on a profoundly emotional psychological journey that explores the perspectives and experiences of the protagonists they create. Known for delving into themes of sorrow, apprehension, subjugation, sexism, and other matters concerning mental health and sociology, Little Fuss often explores deep and thought-provoking topics. Their lyrical inquisitiveness is paired with cinematic arrangements that aptly reflect the duality of their music.

Both “What’s It Matter To You” and “Hypothetical Girl” stays the course of Girls At Parties, the album that helped fuel their most successful year to date and highlight the creative versatility of Olive Martinez and Cody Von Lehmden, the founding duo behind Little Fuss, and new arrivals Delia Martin and Vitor Oliveira, as artists and storytellers.

Their outspoken songs have caught the attention of both fans and the media, gathering champions at Wonderland, Billboard, 1883 Magazine, The Big Takeover, Boston Globe, CBS Boston, Ones To Watch, and Boston’s NPR station, WBUR, which credited the band with writing “complex female characters into pop songs” in their premiere of “I Want A Secret.” As a result, the band confirmed an appearance at Boston Calling Music Festival and collected a Best New Artist Nomination at the Boston Music Awards.

Learn more about Little Fuss by watching their interview on CBS Boston and listen to both “What’s It Matter To You” and “Hypothetical Girl” on any digital platform. You can watch Little Fuss continue slowly taking over the world by following them on Instagram and TikTok at @LittleFussBand, and catch them at Boston Calling tonight.

Juniper Honey’s “Looking At You” Describes Longing for Missed Connections

San Luis Obispo, CA – Born out of an all-too-common tale, Juniper Honey’s brand new single “Looking At You” details a story of unfulfilled potential and opportunities squandered. With an upbeat vibe and colorful lyrics, the indie rock band describes the experience of falling in love with a stranger you see out in public and never gaining the courage to approach them. Written with the pieces of a story in mind, Juniper Honey describes the feeling of longing for a person they have never met. “Looking At You” perfectly articulates how these lost connections can stick out in one’s mind for much longer than anticipated. In an artful fusion of silky vocals, enchanting guitar riffs, and energetic drums, the track feels almost dreamy, depicting a romanticized recount of this stranger that the artist has painted in their head. “This one was really fun to work on in the studio,” lead vocalist Jake Hesse claims. “I can perfectly remember us jamming to this one as we were creating it and just being thrilled with what we were hearing.” With the help of producer Stefan Mac (Wallows, Young the Giant), “Looking At You,” alongside Juniper Honey’s other releases, is just as vivid in its storytelling as it is relatable in its subject matter.

While Juniper Honey’s origins can be found in Southern California, they have recently established new roots in San Luis Obispo. With fearless honesty and self-aware vocals, “We Should Get Dinner” evokes raw emotion that will stop you in your tracks. Backed by rich vocal harmonies, Donovan’s light and alluring musical melody strikingly contrasts with her cutting lyrics. Her vocals are smooth and mesmerizing, with a tone that is reminiscent of genres such as jazz, folk, soul, and pop. The title, “We Should Get Dinner,” is as ironic as it is sincere. Moreover, it depicts the painful process of yearning for a fading relationship. “I wrote this song while watching a lot of my friendships change after graduating from college and moving back to Brooklyn, where I grew up. In our world of social media and cell phones, we are never more than a couple clicks away from communicating with each other, which creates a particular sting when you do end up losing touch with people you care about,” she reveals. Ultimately, the song builds to a sense of urgency, providing a clear climax in the story. Donovan shamelessly sings, “if you want me you know where I’ll be / I still want you if you would just want me.” Her lyrics leave the listener with a sense of comfort in their candid portrayal of such a familiar kind of heartache.

Almost as early as Maya Donovan could talk, she was writing little tunes to express her innermost feelings. When she was 7, she began learning piano which gave her a faithful companion to fully realize the melodies that had floated in her head for years. The first song she wrote while accompanying herself on piano, at just 11 years old, discussed “[her] agonizing, unrequited love for a classmate.” Since her earliest days as a songwriter, Donovan has used the tumult of her internal world as a driving force for her music. Growing up in a family of esteemed creatives such as Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Vanessa Roth, and screenwriter Eric Roth, she developed a relentless love and enduring drive for her craft. Donovan went on to become a graduate of New York City’s reputable LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts, also known as the “Fame School.” Donovan has continued to masterfully utilize songwriting to chronicle her battles with anxiety and her constant re-discovery of herself through adolescence and young adulthood. While the vulnerable experiences she shares can carry heavy weight, she approaches them with genuine originality and subtle humor. To enjoy Maya Donovan’s charismatic presence live, you can find her as a resident artist at the Bitter End in Greenwich Village, which has been graced by some of her biggest musical influences, such as Carole King, Billy Joel, and Lady Gaga. Additional inspiration for her art comes from fellow contemporary singer-songwriters such as Fiona Apple, Sara Bareilles, and Madison Cunningham.

“We Should Get Dinner” gives listeners a safe space to acknowledge an unrequited love they are longing for and offers an empathetic yet uninhibited freedom in which to embrace thoughts and feelings that can be hard to say out loud. Her innate ability to express the nuances of the human experience sets Maya Donavan apart, cementing her place as a true talent to watch in the world of music. “We Should Get Dinner” is now available for streaming and download on all digital music platforms worldwide.
